About Our Image Resizer
Our free online image resizer lets you change the dimensions of any image directly in your browser. Whether you need to prepare photos for social media, create correctly sized passport photos, or simply reduce image dimensions for faster web loading, our tool provides precise control with no uploads required.
Unlike online tools that send your images to remote servers, all resizing happens locally on your device. Your personal photos, confidential documents, and private screenshots never leave your computer. This makes our resizer safe for processing sensitive images including identity documents and professional materials.
Two Resizing Modes
Custom dimensions lets you enter exact width and height values in pixels. You can choose whether to maintain the original aspect ratio (fitting the image within your specified bounds) or force exact dimensions (which may stretch or distort the image). Maintaining aspect ratio is recommended for photographs, while exact dimensions are useful when creating images for specific containers.
Social media presets provide one-click selection of the exact dimensions required by popular platforms. Our preset library covers Instagram posts, stories, and profile pictures; Facebook covers and profiles; Twitter/X headers and profiles; LinkedIn banners and profiles; YouTube thumbnails and channel art; TikTok videos; and standard ID photo sizes including passport and visa photos.
How Image Resizing Works
When you resize an image, the tool uses the browser's Canvas API to redraw the image at the new dimensions. In fit mode (maintain aspect ratio), the image is scaled so that it fits entirely within your target dimensions, with one dimension potentially being smaller to preserve proportions. In crop mode (used with presets), the image is center-cropped to match the exact target aspect ratio, then scaled to the target dimensions.
All resizing is performed using high-quality bilinear interpolation provided by the browser's canvas rendering engine. The output preserves the original format unless you specify otherwise.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will resizing reduce image quality?
Resizing to smaller dimensions generally maintains good visual quality. However, reducing dimensions too much and then enlarging later can cause quality loss. For best results, always keep a copy of the original full-resolution image.
What is the difference between fit and crop?
Fit mode scales the entire image to fit within your target dimensions while preserving aspect ratio, which may result in one dimension being smaller than specified. Crop mode scales and then crops the image to exactly match your target dimensions.
Can I resize multiple images at once?
Yes, you can upload multiple images and resize them all with the same settings. This is ideal for batch-processing product photos or social media content.
Are my images uploaded to your server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your images never leave your device.
What is the maximum image size?
We recommend images under 10MB for best performance. The tool supports larger files depending on your device's memory.
Can I resize images for print?
Yes, but keep in mind that screen pixels and print dots are different. For print, you generally need 300 DPI. Our tool shows pixel dimensions — divide by 300 to get approximate print inches.
Do the social media presets match current requirements?
We regularly update our presets to match the latest platform specifications. However, platforms occasionally change their requirements, so we recommend double-checking if precise dimensions are critical.
Can I make images larger?
Yes, but upscaling (making images larger than their original size) will reduce sharpness. Our tool performs basic upscaling; for high-quality enlargement, consider using our dedicated image upscaler tool.
What format is the output?
The resized image preserves the original format (PNG, JPG, or WebP) by default.
Is this tool free for commercial use?
Yes, our image resizer is completely free for both personal and commercial use with no restrictions.
